A Few Quid More..

Following last year's controversial 31% rise in allowances, Hartlepool councillors are now set to receive an additional 2% increase. In an interview with the Hartlepool Mail, Council leader, Christopher Akers-Belcher comments that "Members can receive what they want to receive, that's the basic allowance, whether people choose to have it is up to them".
And it seems that some councillors are choosing to say "No, thank you". John Tennant (Hartlepool Independent Group) has said that they're declining the offer, and word has it that Dave Hunter (Labour) intends to do the same. Additionally, Putting Hartlepool First's James Black states "I can confirm that none of the Councillors under PHF have taken the original 31% or the additional 2% therefore PHF Councillors receive 33% less than the others."
So, that leaves the rest to decide what's important to them, and whether their principles or their pockets speak louder.
